Mackey discusses leaders

It's already June and most players are on the verge of heading to summer camps. Newark (Dela.) Christiana defensive end Leon Mackey isn't sure he'll be one of those as he is focused elsewhere.
"I'm working out and really focused on trying to get ready for summer school," he said. "I working to get my GPA better.

"I'm not saying I'm not going to camp. I want to make some if I can, I just don't know if I'll have the ability to get to any due to classes."
Currently five schools have offered Mackey.
"I've got offers from Tennessee, NC State, Buffalo, Temple and Pittsburgh," he stated. "I like Pittsburgh they were my first offer and I've been in touch with the coaches from NC State, but Tennessee is my No. 1 school.
"They are leading because I've talked to coach Slade and coach Fulmer. When I talked to coach Slade, he was really comfortable to be around, while coach Fulmer seemed like a cool dude. I like the fact they also have a specific defensive end coach and not just a line coach. Lastly, they are in the SEC which is my favorite conference too."
Numerous other schools including Iowa, Florida State, Penn State, Georgia, Clemson Alabama and others have been in touch with Mackey. One of those was a longtime favorite for him growing up.
"I was born in Florida and always liked FSU," he said. "I've been doing research on them and talking to the coach a bit. If they offered that'd be really big and they'd likely be one of my top schools. I don't think I'd commit right away though I'd evaluate everything."
