MAC leader for Cochran

Canton, Mich., three-star linebacker Jalen Cochran has accumulated a handful of offers during his recruiting process, and it is a Mid-American Conference school that stands out as his favorite.
"Toledo is my No. 1 right now," Cochran said. "They were my first offer and it's more like a family-base down there. I talk to the coaches pretty much every day. I have a great bond with them and my mom likes them too."

Iowa is the only Power Five school to offer Cochran, and they did so last winter. He lists the Hawkeyes No. 2 among his favorites, but their 2016 class is nearly complete and Cochran is aware of that.
"I talked to Iowa 2-3 weeks ago," Cochran said. "They said they would check out one of my games and were still looking at me. I haven't been talking to them that much, but I get mail from them almost every day.
"They have been telling me from the start that spots are going to fill up. It's a business, so if there are no spots left, then there aren't spots left. But, anything can happen throughout the course of a season. Kids decommit all the time."
Any additional offers for the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Cochran are not likely until he finishes his first semester of studies.
"I have been talking to a few schools, Illinois and Arizona right now," Cochran said. "They are both waiting on my grades after first semester. I won't have any new offers until then I don't think."
Cochran is "feeling good" about his academic progress this semester, and is currently putting his recruitment on hold.
"I am just focusing on my high school season right now and focusing on the classroom," Cochran said. "Probably after my season is over with I will start looking at schools and start taking visits. After I get my grades in I am really going to look at who I want to go to."
Cochran is ranked as the No. 63 outside linebacker and the No. 22 player in the state of Michigan for the 2016 class.
