There is no question that Lynell Hamilton (6-1, 210, 4.4) from Stockton (Calif.) Edison is one of the nation’s finest running backs. He has everything you would want in a running back prospect – size, speed and power.
When you think of the complete package at running back you think of Hamilton. Not only is Hamilton a great runner, he’s an excellent receiver and takes pride is his blocking ability. “When I was out with a hip pointer the quarterback missed my blocking more than anything else,” Hamilton said.
Even though Hamilton missed two and a half games due to his hip pointer he has still rushed for 864 yards and eight touchdowns. He has also caught 17 passes for 150 yards through the air and two more touchdowns.
The amazing thing about Hamilton’s stats is he has been playing through and is playing at about 70%. Even at 70% Hamilton is still pretty good.
Hamilton has roughly 45 offers on the table. He visited Oregon and had a terrific trip.
“I had an almost perfect trip to Oregon,” Hamilton said. “The school had everything. I like there academics, location and they have an excellent football program.”
Hamilton has committed himself to visiting Michigan and Miami but there are no dates yet.
Arizona, ASU, Washington, WSU, Oregon State, Colorado and Oklahoma are all vying for the last two allotted slots.
What about California schools?
“If I stay in California, I will end up at USC, UCLA, or Cal,” Hamilton said. “I won’t take official visits. I’ve already been to those three schools unofficially.”
When will the talented Mr. Hamilton make up his mind on a college?
“I will make up my mind after I take my trips,” Hamilton said. “I am looking for the complete package of academics, football program and location.”
