Lynch eager to learn at UCLA

Three-star quarterback Matt Lynch committed to UCLA four months ago and completely shut down his recruitment, even after the Bruins landed athlete Dymond Lee.

Now the 6-foot-5, 182-pound prospect from Broomfield (Colo.) Legacy is eager to see how far Josh Rosen can take the Bruins in his true freshman season and study UCLA's tendencies on offense.
"I consider myself a dual-threat quarterback being able to make plays with my feet, but also throwing down field, so I think that I'll fit in because Brett Hundley was that same quarterback," Lynch told Rivals.com. "If I could learn under Josh Rosen and get my chance there, I feel like I'll have a pretty good shot."
Immediate playing time was never a factor for Lynch, so the presence of Rosen hardly concerns him. Lynch said he understands that there is room for growth, especially since this is only his third season ever behind center.
"Making reads and knowing what everyone is going to be doing based on how they're lined up," Lynch said when asked where he wants to improve. "Becoming more mentally strong with the game at quarterback and becoming more accurate."
The coaches at UCLA haven't thrown any tasks his way, knowing there should be at least two years to develop the lanky prospect on campus while Rosen takes the field.
"They just say go out and enjoy the game," Lynch said. "They want me to worry about UCLA later. Right now, I'm a Legacy football player so [they want me to] go out and do what I do and have fun.
"I'm just going to be learning the offense and what they do given the down and distance, what they do first play, and schemes they go to and game plans."
Lynch has set up his official visit for the Oct. 2 weekend when the Bruins host Pac-12 South rival Arizona State at the Rose Bowl. The No. 4-rated prospect in the state of Colorado opened the season Friday with 243 passing yards and three touchdowns, and added 76 rushing yards in a 35-31 victory.
