Lund chooses Stanford

Four-star athlete Sione Lund had long favored Stanford and he made that sentiment official Friday while visiting campus.
As had long been expected, the Rivals100 prospect from Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton committed to the Cardinal. He was in town to watch Stanford take on Notre Dame and get another close look at the program that he didn't hesitate to name his leader on a number of occasions.

IN HIS WORDS: "I love Stanford," Lund told Rivals.com. "Everything that is important to me, Stanford has to offer. I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity.
"Stanford has been my dream ever since I started my high school career. Their football program speaks for itself and and I know there's life after football, so I want to prepare for that."
WHAT'S NEXT?: The Fighting Irish had been recruiting Lund more intensely over the last few months, but nothing could overcome what Stanford had accomplished since extending the scholarship offer during the spring evaluation period. The Cardinal also hold a verbal pledge from Lund's teammate, four-star wide receiver Simi Fehoko, in the 2016 class and that certainly didn't hurt their chances with one of Utah's top two-way prospects. Lund has the versatility to play linebacker but several programs, including Stanford, have discussed the possibility of utilizing him at power back on the offensive side.
