Lufkin teammates to take trip

You have to give the Lufkin Panthers credit. They're definitely a team that sticks together – even in the recruiting wars. Three Panther players are expected to take an official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend, according to highly-recruited safety Leonard Hewitt.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound four-star safety said he and teammates running back/athlete E.J. Shankle and linebacker Mandela Roberts plan to be in Stillwater this weekend for an official visit.

"We're looking forward to checking it out," Hewitt, ranked as the nation's No. 10 safety and Rivals250 member said. "Oklahoma State has been recruiting all of us for some time. They're one of the teams that are talking about offering all three of us."
At this point, Oklahoma State has apparently offered both Shankle and Hewitt but Mandela did not have a Cowboy offer heading into the fall calling period.
Shankle, the Lone Star State's No. 59 prospect, said he's hoping to still make an announcement some time in the near future at one of his team's games. He listed Oklahoma State, LSU and Texas A&M as his favorite teams. Hewitt said in the past LSU and A&M were his favorites, but he too could "surprise people" with his decision.
"I'd say Oklahoma State and Missouri have been recruiting me the hardest lately," Hewitt said. "They're both making a strong push for me."
All of which could make for an interesting weekend for official visits to Oklahoma State. At one point it seemed like Hewitt and Shankle were locks for LSU or A&M, but maybe that's not the case yet.
