Luatua setting official trips

Tyler Luatua does not speak much about his recruitment, thus insight is limited, but Notre Dame remains one of the favorites for the four-star tight end.
La Mirada, Calif., coach Mike Moschetti said Luatua has three official visits planned and that the Irish are definitely serious contenders in his recruitment.

"(Assistant) coach (Mike) Denbrock is setting up a phone call to talk with his dad," Moschetti said. "Coach (Brian) Kelly has already talked with his mom. Coach Kelly has already been on the campus and has talked with Luatua several times.
"They have really, really done a good job recruiting him and he's excited about that."
The three official visits planned for Luatua are to Ohio State on Sept. 27, Notre Dame on Oct. 18 and Alabama on Nov. 8 for the LSU weekend.
Luatua's brother, Isaac, plays for the Crimson Tide and they're still very involved in his recruitment but Notre Dame is considered to have a slight edge at this point.
"Luatua has his Notre Dame trip set up, his Ohio State trip set up and he's going to the Alabama-LSU game," Moschetti said.
"The family really wants Tyler to be really comfortable before he commits so he's going to look at some other schools."
Luatua's two other trips are not scheduled but Moschetti said the four-star tight end has thought about a trip to Texas. Many other top programs, including USC and UCLA, have also offered.
