LSU grabs a big addition on the final day of the December signing period in Katy (Tex.) offensive guard Coen Echols, who chose the Tigers over SEC rivals Auburn and Texas A&M.
The three-star talent originally committed to Texas A&M during the summer, but recently backed off his pledge on December 8th as the Aggies undergo a coaching staff transition with new head coach Mike Elko.
LSU got the 6-foot-3, 290-pound prospect on campus for an official visit this past weekend to seal the deal. Throughout his recruiting process, Echols has developed a strong relationship with Tigers' offensive line coach Brad Davis that proved to be the difference-maker in his decision.
Throughout his high school career, Echols has played everywhere from tackle to center, but with his frame will be a viable interior option in the SEC. Echols' displays impeccable footwork and displays plenty of strength in his engagement while using leverage to his advantage.
