LSU, UT offer top Arkansas OL

One of Arkansas’ top offensive linemen for the Class of 2004 has added two more scholarship offers and is poised for more as his team draws closer to spring practice.
“Tennessee and LSU have both offered me in the last couple of weeks,” said Stuttgart offensive guard Brett Helms, who had an earlier offer from Arkansas as well. “I was really excited to get those. I like both of those schools a lot.”

Helms (6-3, 300, 5.2) had previously indicated that Tennessee was his top choice -- stating it would likely be a "done deal" if the Vols offered -- but has now placed the Tigers and Razorbacks on equal footing with the Volunteers.
“I didn’t know much about Arkansas and LSU the last time you talked to me,” he said. “I was pretty much going by what I knew about Tennessee, which was real good. I had a great time there, and I still like them a lot. But I’ve got to visit Arkansas and LSU twice in the last two months. I liked their campuses and facilities and coaching staffs a lot.
“As of now, all three of them are about the same on the top of my list.”
The list also includes Ole Miss, Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma State. Helms said he received indication from his coach that the Cornhuskers and Cowboys were going to offer scholarships in the days to come.
As a junior, Helms graded out at over 90 percent on the season and recorded 48 pancake blocks.
