The Latest: Rivals250 linebacker Jacob Phillips recently moved up quite a bit in the Rivals rankings and now it appears that the nation's No. 109 overall player's stock is on the rise with college coaches as well. Just two days after taking home linebacker MVP honors at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour, Phillips picked up an offer from LSU. The Tigers quickly jump in a mix of schools, including Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. Phillips recently named seven schools as his favorites, but appears to be still interested in exploring all his options.
In His Words: "I am blessed to receive the offer. I am always excited anytime an SEC school offers me, especially with the caliber of LSU. I also really like that they have a tradition of sending guys from their program to the NFL. There is a strong possibility that I will visit. I already have a obligations to visit a few schools but I hope I can get down to LSU sometime this summer."
Rivals Reaction: Phillips was excited to announce his top schools last week but it's clear that the race for his commitment is just getting started. Several programs have been pushing to get Phillips on campus for visits and he's planning on checking out several options over the summer. The Tigers jumping into the mix is interesting, especially with other SEC schools like Alabama, Kentucky and Ole Miss really turning up the heat as of late.
