Rivals100 DB Kelvin Joseph backs off commitment to LSU

Things are going from bad to worse in Baton Rouge, La. Just two days after the Tigers stunning loss to Troy, LSU lost on its longest-tenured and highest-ranted commitment, Scotlandville, La. defensive back Kelvin "Fat" Joseph.

The nation's No. 4 safety and No. 44 player overall announced his decision on Twitter, calling it "lifetime decision."

Joseph, who committed to LSU in Feb. 2016 has maintained several times during the recruiting process that he is open to other schools, but only Alabama has emerged as a real threat to the Tigers in recent months. With his decision to open up his recruitment the Tide and Tigers will likely have some company, with Clemson among the schools expected to receive an official visit from Joseph this fall.

With the loss of Joseph, LSU's recruiting class dropped from No. 12 to No. 17 in the Rivals.com team rankings.
