LSU has become the second school to offer big Calvin Darity, who had a previous offer from Florida State.
“It’s just a matter of time before everyone does,” said Lincoln coach David Wilson. “He’s probably one of the top two or three linemen in the country, and No. 1 in the state, from what we’ve been told.
“Calvin is a kid with great feet and athletic ability for his size and strength. He could wind up playing either guard or tackle in college. He’s real good and pulling and getting downfield with his blocks. He delivers an impact when he gets to his target.”
Darity had 28 knockdown blocks and 20 pancakes as a junior.
In addition to the Tigers and Seminoles, he’s also receiving heavy attention from the likes of Florida, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan and Nebraska. The hometown Noles are thought to be the early leader, although Lincoln coaches say he’s enjoying the widespread national attention and looks forward to making several visits.
“Education will be an important part of it, too,” Wilson said. “He comes from a family with a good academic background. His mother is a professor. He’s interested in a school that has a strong math and science program.”
