LSU, ISU, USF in mix for Florida RB

Three-star Lakeland (Fla.) George Jenkins running back Tyease Thompson says three schools share co-leader status as his recruitment winds down.
“I’m really looking close at Iowa State, LSU and South Florida,” he said. “They’ve all got some really good things about them that I like.

“I’m real good with Iowa State’s coaches. I’ve always liked them, and I think they’re being real honest with me as far as how I can come in and help them at running back. They run an offense that I really like.
“With LSU, you’re talking about a program that’s as good as anybody right now. They just won the championship, so that’s pretty big. Plus, they were the first school to really recruit me hard. They were the first ones to offer me. I’ve always remembered that.
“With USF, they’ve got the edge if I feel like staying here close to home. They’re and up-and-coming program, and they’re getting ready to move up to the Big East. That’s pretty exciting. I had a cousin and a good friend go to school there. They both had a lot of good things to say about it."
Thompson visited UConn on Dec. 5 and Iowa State on Dec. 12. He’ll make trips to South Florida (1/9), LSU (1/16) and Troy State (1/30) this month.
He had also been considering Tennessee, but said the Volunteers dropped off when he chose not to make an early commmitment.
As a senior, he rushed for 2,054 yards and 29 touchdowns. He is rated the No. 35 running back in the nation by Rivals.com.
