LSU grabs commitment from Alabama-based defensive end
LSU’s most recent commit isn’t much for chatting.
Spanish Fort (Ala.) High School defensive end Justin Thomas pledged his services to LSU and confirmed the news with a simple text. There was no Twitter announcement or explanation. Instead, Thomas got to the point.
“Made a verbal commitment to LSU,” Thomas wrote to Rivals.com.
A 6-foot-5, 255-pound end, Thomas did not immediately respond to requests for more information, but the LSU coaching staff accepted his commitment on Saturday afternoon. The Alabama-born lineman does few interviews and prefers to stay under the media radar.
Thomas, a prospect on the verge of four-star status, is ranked as the No. 25 weakside defensive end in the 2017 class. As a junior, he recorded 55 tackles. 11 sacks and one interception.
RIVALS REACTION: Thomas has great size for his position and shows incredible strength. He will need to show off increased explosiveness as a junior, but his size and tackling ability alone have him on the verge of collecting a fourth star. Thomas moves well laterally for a prospect of his size.
