LSU, Florida off to good start with 2019 4-star DB Devin Bush

The Latest: The state of Louisiana is known for producing top-notch defensive backs on a year-in, year-out basis and it appears that the next star from “The Boot” could be Class of 2019 prospect Devin Bush. The newly minted four-star has quickly become the target of some of the SEC’s top programs and has plans to take several visits this summer. Rivals.com recently caught up with Bush to break down his recruitment and his plans for the summer.

In His Words: “It's been going steady. I really like LSU and Florida at the time.”

On LSU: “It's DBU. It feels like home when I go there, maybe because it's so close to home but the people there they know my name and they take care of me when I go up there and make sure I'm alright. I have a really good relationship with Coach Raymond up there. I went for the camp earlier this month. It's always good to work with Coach Raymond. I would say he's one of the best defensive backs coaches in the country. He helps me with the little stuff I need work on and I've been listening to him and working on what he's told me so the next time I go up there I hope to impress him. They like my ball skills and how I have speed. Some people say my potential is to play like Patrick Peterson, if I can put it all together, the little things and keep getting better.”

On Florida: “Florida has always had good defensive backs. Vernon Hargreaves went there and I've been watching him since I was little. The same with Joe Hayden. They've always been in the running for DBU. It's always been LSU and Florida. I've been to Florida the state and I like it a lot but I've never been to campus before. I'm going to camp next month. I've been dealing with Coach Skipper. He came to my school during the spring. Once I get up there I want to meet the other coaches and build those bonds. I want to see the coaches and how they are; different coaches have different styles. Some coach hard, some coach easy and I'm just looking for the best style that can help me achieve my goals.”

On his dream offer: “It was always LSU and Florida.”

On upcoming visits: “I want to go back to Texas A&M and visit Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Florida State and maybe a few others.”

Rivals Reaction: It’s always tough to try to pull elite prospects out of the state of Louisiana but Florida is giving it a shot by targeting some of the state’s best in 2019, including Bush. The Gators and Tigers will likely be battling for a while and should be joined by a few other SEC programs so it will be fun to watch how Bush’s recruitment plays out.
