LSU extends offer to 2011 lineman

There are a select few early offers that LSU hands out to players within the state of Louisiana. Already several players out of the loaded 2011 Louisiana class have received offers but on Friday one more was added to the list.
Baton Rouge (La.) Capitol offensive tackle Corey White hadn't received any verbal offers in the offseason but on Friday, White received his first written offer from the home-state Tigers of LSU.

"I got it on Friday," White said of the offer. "It came to the school to Coach Germany and he reported it to me. I was happy. I was surprised because when he told me about it, I was like, 'huh?' And he said I got the offer from LSU. I was so surprised."
Though White wasn't expecting the offer, perhaps he should have been after a strong camp performance this summer piqued the coaching staff's interest.
"I talked to the O-line coach and I talked to Les Miles when I was at their camp this summer," he said. "I did pretty good. During the drills I was hustling and then we had one-on-ones and I was beating everybody in one-on-ones."
White is the teammate of four-star Houston quarterback commit Terrance Broadway. While LSU is his first official offer, Houston has shown some serious interest as well.
"When we play McKinley, the coach at the University of Houston is coming to the game and he said he might offer me then."
Capitol has started the season 1-0 after a week one 41-13 win over Carencro. With Broadway under center and White manning the trenches, White sees the potential for a long season this fall.
"We should do good," he said. "We should make a big run. Most of the time my strength is pass blocking but you'll catch me going hard on run blocking too."
