LSU could be a player for 2017 DB Lecounte

Even though he's just a rising junior, Class of 2017 Hinesville (Ga.) Liberty County defensive back Richard LeCounte has been on the recruiting scene long enough to develop close bonds with assistant coaches at several different programs.
When it came to Georgia, former wide receivers coach Tony Ball was LeCounte's go-to assistant coach. Now that Ball is at LSU, LeCounte said the Tigers are officially a school to watch in his recruitment.

"Now that he's at LSU it can open up some things," LeCounte said. "That puts them up there with the other schools I really like and gives them a chance to be in my top group or maybe even the school that I go to."
LeCounte said his bond with Ball is the primary reason.
"Coach Ball was my main man with everything at Georgia and that's carried over to LSU," he said. "I always had a good connection with him. He's my guy."
Even though Ball wouldn't be LeCounte's position coach if he were to chose the Tigers, he said the school's tradition of producing quality defensive backs also has his attention.
"LSU is DBU," LeCounte said. "They produce guys and put them in the league and that's a goal of mine to work and get to the NFL and if they can help me get that it would be huge."
Now LeCounte is planning on adding a trip to Baton Rouge to his offseason schedule.
"I want to get there for a visit soon," he said. "It's not as easy as some of the other schools but it's on my list."
