The Latest: Ever since calling a press conference to announce that he was committing to his own high school at the end of the summer, four-star defensive back Todd Harris has kept recruiting fans and reporters guessing when it comes to his future destination. Most have seen it as a battle between LSU and Alabama, but Ole Miss has been heavily involved and now TCU has entered the picture. Rivals.com caught up with Harris on Thursday to get the latest.
In His Words:
LSU: “I’m taking my official to LSU on Jan. 13. I talk to Coach Aranda a lot. He just talks to me about being a Tiger and representing the state. I also talk to Coach Raymond a lot. That’s pretty much the same message they’ve been relaying to me about staying home and repping the Tigers and different things like that. Coach Raymond is one of the best defensive backs coaches in college football and he’s a great guy.”
Alabama: “I went up there on an unofficial and it was pretty good. All of the coaches and staff showed us a good time. My mom and Coach Saban had a good talk. I just like how they recruit me. They recruit me hard. Coach Ansley stays hitting me up. I can feel the love already up there that they have for me so I’m just hoping to have a good time when I go there for an official visit.”
Ole Miss: “I just found out something new about Ole Miss so I’m not sure if I’m going to take an official there anymore, due to some coach news and one of the coaches leaving. Coach Batoon left to go with Lane Kiffin to FAU. So I’m probably going to have to cancel that. I’m not sure yet but I don’t think I’m going to take that official anymore. I was planning to go there the last weekend before Signing Day but now I’m not sure.”
TCU: “I’ve been talking to TCU a lot lately so I think I’ll be taking my last official visit there instead. They called me a week before the dead period and asked me my plans because they thought I was committed to LSU. They recruited me early on and backed down when they assumed I was going to LSU. Now they’re back in, they did a couple of home visits and met my parents and things like that and that’s how it’s been ever since. It’s been constant. I talk with Coach Glasgow every day.”
Rivals Reaction: Harris’ recruitment has seen its twists and turns, with him looking like he was going to commit to both LSU and Alabama at different times during his recruitment. Ole Miss had come on strong, but now it appears like he’s ready to give the Horned Frogs a chance instead. Harris isn’t planning on making an announcement until National Signing Day.
