Lowe is the prince of Hitchcock

The king of Class 2A Hitchcock High School homecoming court is Josh Bell, but the prince is Marquis Lowe. Junior Lowe (5-9, 175-pounds) is Hitchcock’s headliner, playing quarterback, running back and defensive back for the ‘Dawgs.
“I’ve had coaches come up to me after the game and tell me that he is the fastest human they have ever seen,” Hitchcock coach Gary Carney said. “They have all seen him on film, but you don’t realize how fast he is until you see him in person. You can’t take a normal angle on him – he just runs right by you.”

Lowe leads the area in rushing with 1,415 yards and 19 touchdowns, reached the state finals in the 100-meter dash as a freshman and sophomore, and will be an academic qualifier.
“Notre Dame has sent him letters the past 12 days,” Carney said. “The secret is out on Marquise.
“He plays quarterback for us in the shot gun, but basically we just snap it to him as a tailback. He may even be a better defensive back that a running back. He can cover and just punishes people. He’s absolutely fearless,” Carney said.
Letters from Duke, LSU, Notre Dame and Texas Tech litter Carney’s desk addressed to Lowe, who is a three-year starter.
“What is scary is that he is throwing the ball much better since we moved him to quarterback,” Carney said. “He’ll be deadly next year if he can throw at will.”
Lowe has completed 34 or 50 passes for 624 yards and four touchdowns to boot.
“We’ve had great athletes here but were qualifiers,” Carney said. “Marquise and Josh have great attitudes and grades. Marquise’s brother was a terrific athlete for us but ended up at Ranger Junior College. We have had a lot of those type kids here.”
