Lovell claims two offers

Christchurch (Va.) Christchurch School tight end Josh Lovell has racked up two scholarships. Who has offered the 6-foot-6, 255-pounder to date?
"I have two offers from Maryland and East Carolina," he said. "I got the ECU one about two weeks ago and then Maryland was back around Thanksgiving.

"I took a visit last year to East Carolina and it was nice. I wasn't feeling it completely down there. I've been to Maryland five or six times. I love it up there. They are really nice people to me and I get a real home feeling."
Lovell went further about what interests him in Maryland.
"Coach Brattan treats me amazingly," he said. "We've gotten really close. Coach Friedgen always writes me letters and the whole staff is really nice. I've even met some of the players. They all seem cool. I like the facilities a lot too. The campus is gorgeous. I have not found anything wrong with it."
Recently Lovell visited another school, North Carolina for junior day.
"I just got back from North Carolina. It was a good visit," he said. "It was my first time every really talking to anyone from there. I didn't know any of the coaches, but they all knew me. It was a really nice feeling there and I liked it a lot."
More visits are coming for Lovell in the near future.
"I think I'm going to visit Georgia on the 21st for spring game," he said. "I think I'm going to Maryland this summer for camp along with Virginia Tech and North Carolina."
Does Lovell like any colleges at this point?
"Maryland is definitely at the top of the list now, so is North Carolina," he stated. "Virginia Tech is up there along with Georgia and probably Rutgers.
"I get some mail from Virginia Tech. I haven't talked to Tech that much, but they plan to come see me more in the spring. I'm really hoping to hear a lot more from Virginia Tech. I want them to be one of my No. 1 schools, they are one of my top interests," he said. "I've talked to Georgia. They want me down for spring game. Rutgers is sending me a lot of stuff too."
With interest rising, what does the Commonwealth prospect want in a college?
"I want a school with a strong past history," he said. "I'd like a good overall program and I want a welcoming feel. North Carolina and Maryland did a good job of that when I walked in. They were really friendly and greeted me.
"As for my position, I'd prefer to stick at tight end if I can and then if I have to go to defensive end."
Lovell posted 25 receptions for 350-yards and eight touchdowns as a junior on his way to all-state honors.
