Louisville latest to offer Florida LB

There’s never any shortage of players in the Sunshine State who emerge as big-time prospects as the season rolls along.
One such player could be Eagle Lake (Fla.) Lake Region outside linebacker Lamar Myles, who is off to a great start as a senior and commanding some nice recruiting attention.

“I’ve got offers from Auburn, Louisville, USF and East Carolina,” he said. “And I’m getting calls from Florida, Maryland, UCF, Cincinnati and UConn.”
Myles (6-1, 205, 4.45) poses a tremendous combination of speed, athleticism and strength. He bench presses 450 pounds, squats 535 and boasts a 35-inch vertical jump. Those attributes helped him record 125 tackles and two sacks as a junior, and he’s wreaking havoc on opposing offenses again this season with 22 tackles and six sacks in his first two games.
“I had a great game last week,” he said. “Coach Locksley from Florida came to see me that night and get some film on me, and I played great. I’m real excited about that.”
The Gators are one of Myles’ top three schools, along with Auburn and Louisville.
“With Florida, I like the fact that they’re a great SEC program close to home,” he said. “That would be perfect for me.
“Auburn is a great program in the SEC, too. I like their coaching staff and the way they run their defense. They have great outside linebackers.
“I don’t know too much about Louisville yet, but they’ve shown a whole lot of interest in me. They say I could step right in and play for them. And their coach used to be at Auburn, so he’s known about me for a while.”
Myles took an unofficial visit to Florida this past weekend for the Florida A&M game. He plans on visiting South Florida on Oct. 4 for the Bulls’ game against Louisville.
"I like (USF's) program a lot, too," he said. "They've got things going over there with some good coaches. I think they're on the rise."
