Louisville, Indiana in thick of hunt for Florida-based corner

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- Tiawan Mullen’s list of scholarship offers grew with pace this offseason. These days, the class-of-2019 defensive back has options. And while Clemson, at which his older brother currently plays, is yet to make thing official, Mullen doesn’t mind rattling off the names of schools that stand out in his mind.

If Clemson offers, so be it. If not, Mullen won’t lose much sleep. It’s not as though he’s without suitors, after all.

“Who leads? I don’t know. Nobody, really,” Mullen said. “Louisville, Indiana and Mississippi State. I’d say those are the ones standing out.”

Mullen plans to visit Louisville – along with Kentucky and Clemson this fall – and says the Cardinals have already given him plenty to consider. He shies away from naming an official leader, but it’s not particularly difficult to read between the lines.

“At Louisville, it feels like family,” Mullen said. “They have excellent coaches. I just want to get out there and see everything.”

The younger brother of Clemson receiver Trayvon Mullen, Tiawan Mullen is ranked as a high three-star prospect. He attends Coconut Creek (Fla.) High School.

IN HIS WORDS:

-- “I’m going to make a decision about the middle of the football season -- this football season. I think I’ll be ready by then.”

-- “I’m waiting for Oregon, Penn State, Oklahoma and maybe Washington and Clemson. I think Clemson is the closest. “

-- “My brother loves it up [at Clemson]. It feels like family for him. He says he felt like that since the first time he ever visited there. “

-- “Even if Clemson offers, I’ll give everybody a shot. They aren’t the favorite automatically, but if it fits me and they offer, I’d go to Clemson.” RIVALS REACTION: Mullen doesn’t have the elite length of his older brother, but has shined nevertheless this offseason. A Clemson offer would be a game changer, but Louisville has to be seen as the slight leader as things stand now.
