Louisville, Auburn, LSU have the attention of 2020 standout

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Darin Turner’s offer list is relatively short.

Relatively.

There’s reason for this. Just a freshman, Turner is a member of the class of 2020, but the 6-foot-2 wide receiver is already seeing his name spread to recruiting offices across the country. A stack of seven scholarship offers is a pile for some prospects. For Turner, however, it feels like the start of something more.

Turner currently lists offers from a number of colleges in the SEC and beyond. He knows his options will expand in time. Still, he tosses out a few early frontrunners.

“Yeah, I guess the top is … well, I really like Louisville and Auburn and LSU,” Turner said.

Turner has already toured Louisville and hopes to get to Auburn in the near future. Just how serious LSU is about Turner at this juncture is unclear, but his shine for the Tigers is not. Each of the three programs that have piqued the receiver’s interest is on his early list of standouts for a reason.

“With Louisville, the have Lamar Jackson,” Turner said. “That’s big. I was comfortable there. It’s somewhere I could live. Then, with Auburn, I like big places and that campus is huge. I like LSU for a bunch of reasons – a whole bunch of reasons.”

Nothing is set in stone for Turner. His recruitment will change many times between now and Signing Day 2020. Of that fact he’s aware. New offers will arrive and his list of favorites will change. But none of that is stopping him from exploring. In fact, Turner is putting together an aggressive summer travel schedule.

“I’m visiting Auburn, Clemson and re-visiting some schools,” Turner said. “I want to go back to Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and a few others. I might re-visit Louisville, too.”

RIVALS REACTION: Guessing where most 2020 prospects, including Turner, will land is a worthless exercise. Tennessee’s early offer may come into play if the Vols decide to press hard in the future. Beyond that, however, Turner’s recruitment remains a crapshoot.
