Daniel Francis has received a
scholarship offer from his favorite and two others as he puts together
another terrific season.
"I got an offer from LSU and two more from Tulane
and McNeese," said Francis, a member of the Rivals.com
Louisiana
Top 30 team and a Class 2A all-state member as a junior. "LSU
is my favorite. They're a big-time program, the SEC champs last year and
close to home. I've got a lot of friends there. They have a lot of the
things I'm looking for, and I'm real happy they offered."
Could a commitment be around the corner?
"I could," Francis said. "But I still like Tulane,
too. They've been real good to talk to, and they're trying to sell me on
having a better opportunity there. I may be able to play earlier for them
and have a bigger impact. That makes it a close race.
"But it will probably come down to one of those
two."
Francis (5-11, 175, 4.43) said an official visit to
Tulane will come in December. He's also working on a date for LSU.
As a senior, he's led Port Barre to an 11-0 record
and the No. 3 ranking in Class 2A. He's rushed for more than 1,000 yards
(averaging 10 yards per carry) with 10 touchdowns and had 300 yards
receiving with two scores.
