Louisiana teammates trip to New Mexico State

Two offers is fine with Baton Rouge (La.) Tara outside linebacker Cory Chappell because right now the playoffs take priority over recruitment.
The two-star rated No. 32 overall prospect in the state of Louisiana has collected Texas Tech and New Mexico State offers. Though he is headed to the second round of the playoffs this weekend, he took his first official visit to New Mexico State this past weekend.

"It was great," Chappell said about his trip. "The coaches were great and it was just really nice there. They've got a lot of new projects going on with their weight room and they're really improving everything. My teammate Brian Duncan went with me as well."
Chappell says that Duncan enjoyed his trip as well. Though he has not set up a visit to Texas Tech, the Red Raiders are a possibility along with Memphis.
"I was talking with the coach from Memphis and we might try to set one up there," Chappell said. "I'm not really sure when I'll get those set up. I'm not leaning anywhere and I don't even know when I want to decide."
His first game was a 9-7 defensive struggle with the only touchdown being scored on defense by Chappell himself.
"I picked up a fumble on a screen pass and scored from 30 yards," Chappell said. "Then our kicker made a 40-yard field goal to win it. It was a good game, but yeah it was all defense."
