Louisiana running back's leaning towards out-of-state school

Tyreese Jackson is a 6-foot-2, 215 pound running back out of New Iberia (La.) Westgate that rushed for 1,200 yards and scored 16 touchdowns last season.

Over a dozen schools have offered the No. 20-ranked prospect in the Boot State and one currently stands out a little more than the rest.

"I am liking Kansas the most right now," said Jackson. "I have known coach [Tony] Hull since he was a coach in New Orleans, so we have a great relationship.

"He tells me I am his No. 1 recruit that he is coming for me. I have great communication with him and the Kansas staff and they are making me feel like a main priority for them."

Since Hull joined the Jayhawks staff a few years ago, Kansas has done some work in Louisiana. They signed three in the 2018 class and four-star quarterback Lance LeGendre is committed to them in 2019.

Jackson plans to use one of his official visits to Lawrence this spring.

It will be the first time he sees Kansas. He has already tripped to Knoxville this year and if the Vols offer, they could challenge Kansas.

"I like the new vibe at Tennessee," said Jackson. "I was there in February for a visit and I liked the facilities and the coaches there a lot.

"I talk to them almost daily and if they offered, then it would make a difference."

Texas A&M is another school Jackson feels that way about. He also visited College Station last month.

"That is another school that could change things if they decide to offer me. The new staff wants a power back like me and I really liked the guys there.

"Their offense is a lot like what we run in high school, so I feel I would fit in well there."

For now though, Kansas leads for Jackson and he is leaning towards making a decision before his senior year.
