Louisiana RB is 50/50

Three-star Baton Rouge (La.) Redemptorist running back Jay Lucas says he’s in a holding pattern with his top two schools.
“It’s still LSU and Florida State,” he said. “I’m 50/50 between them right now. I don’t really know which way I’d go if I had to choose today.

“Both of them have great programs. They both seem to fit my style pretty well. I like their offenses. It will probably come down to how I feel around their players and coaches when I go on my official visits.”
Lucas (5-11, 224, 4.51), who is rated the nation’s No. 30 running back by Rivals.com, has yet to schedule his official visits.
“I’m waiting until after our season is over to do those,” he said. “I’ve been to a game at LSU – the Florida game – but that’s about it. I’m going to try to go see a game at Florida State if I can.”
In addition to the Tigers and Seminoles, he has offers from Indiana and Northwestern State. He said Texas, Tennessee, Michigan, Florida and Ohio State are staying in touch with him, and that any of those schools may vie for an official visit if they offer.
Through six games this season, Lucas has rushed for more than 500 yards in helping lead Redemptorist to a 5-1 record and the No. 4 ranking in Class 4A. He had 1,982 yards and 30 touchdowns as a junior.
Academically, he maintains a 2.83 GPA and will take his ACT later this month.
