Louisiana RB a LSU lock

Baton Rouge (La.) Redemptorist running back Jay Lucas is one of the top running backs in the Southeast and one of the state of Louisiana’s top overall prospects. But for some reason he’s not sure why he’s still sitting with one major scholarship offer.
“I don’t have any more yet,” Lucas said. “It’s still just LSU. Florida State is looking at me hard and told my coach that an offer might be coming, but I never got anything from them. I’m not sure why the others haven’t.”

Some insiders think it might be because many schools think that Lucas is a lock to be a Tiger – a LSU Tiger that is.
“It’s still going to be tough to beat LSU,” Lucas, who is 5-foot-11 and 224 pounds, said. “I really like them, but I’m not ready to commit to anybody yet. I still want to wait and see what happens.”
Lucas said Auburn, Colorado, Florida State and Texas are also in the hunt and have called him in the month of May. He said the coaches are all fun to talk to, but he’s mainly been focused on his upcoming football season.
“I’m bigger and stronger,” Lucas, who has gained as much as 15 pounds of muscle since the end of his junior season, said.
“I’ve just been eating healthier. It’s not McDonald’s anymore. It’s mom’s cooking. I’ve been eating a lot of mashed potatoes, greens and steaks.”
