Louisiana QB Santos stays mum on favorites

Sean Santos, an explosive dual-threat quarterback from New Orleans (La.) Holy Cross High, has been talking to a number of schools, but isn’t necessarily favoring the biggest name programs on his call list.
“I’ve been getting a lot of calls from different schools wondering how the season’s going,” Santos said. “Florida Atlantic, Arkansas, and a few in state schools, like Louisiana-Lafayette, Southern Louisiana and Louisiana Tech have been calling.

“I’m really interested in Florida Atlantic right now. I know they have a really good coach and their program is taking off. I don’t really have a favorite right now, but I’m going to wait and see how things play out.”
He said he plans to take all of his official visits, but hasn’t decided when or where he will spend his weekends. While he is open to visiting a school in the coming weeks if an opportunity comes up, he is tentatively planning on waiting until after his season ends to plan his officials.
Santos said that a season-opening loss put a shock into his team, and has helped put it on a path toward the postseason.
“We opened with a loss, but since then we’ve been 4-1, so I definitely think it was a wake up call,” he said. “We’re starting to gel together and form a rhythm going into district this week.
“I guess I started off kind of slow, but as the season progressed I’ve started to get in more off a rhythm offensively with the team. We really keep a balance of running and passing the ball, and the past five games other defenses has really tried to stop the pass, which has opened up the running game, and we’ve really generated off of that.”
