Jefferies Tatford has picked up his first three scholarship
offers.
"UL-Monroe, McNeese and Middle Tennessee have all
offered me in the last few weeks," said the rising quarterback prospect from
St. Thomas More High School. "I also got a baseball offer from Louisiana
Tech, McNeese and UL-Lafayette, so there's been a lot going on lately."
Tatford (6-4, 212, 4.63) has led St. Thomas More to
a 9-2 record this season by passing for more than 1,500 yards and 10
touchdowns in his first season as a starter. His performance and upside has
also led to interest from Southern Miss, Florida, Tulane and Louisiana Tech.
"They're all staying in touch," he said. "I get
calls from all of them pretty regularly. I'm still investigating all my
options, but if I had to pick one from all of the schools we've talked
about, it would be Southern Miss. I'm really hoping they offer. They've been
looking at some of my film and told me they were impressed.
"(Southern Miss) would just be a good situation for
me. They play in a good conference and they have a perennial Top 25 team, or
they're usually pretty close. They don't have too many bad seasons. I like
coach (Jeff) Bower a lot. He's real personable. I've just had a lot of fun
every time I've gone to visit down there."
Tatford said the Eagles have also mentioned the
possibility of him playing both sports. He's a 1B/3B on the baseball team.
Once his season is completed, scheduling official
visits will be the next task at hand.
"I'm probably going to go to Southern Miss and
Middle Tennessee for sure," he said. "After that, maybe Louisiana Tech.
Those are the three I've talked about some possible dates with."
