Louisiana QB nearing first offer

Lafayette (La.) Saint Thomas Moore quarterback John Hundley had an impressive showing at the Baton Rouge NIKE camp in early May and has been on the recruiting radar ever since. Has he picked up his first offer yet?
“I still do not have any offers yet, but I keep thinking that I might be getting close,” Hundley said. “I went to camp at Texas A&M and (offensive coordinator) coach (Les) Koenning came up to me and told me he wanted to talk to me. He took me up to the coaches offices to meet all of the coaches and told me that they were very interested. He said that they have to see my highlight tape before they can make a move though. He told me that they are only going to take one quarterback this year.”

The 6-foot-2.5, 208-pound Hundley ran the 40-yard dash in 4.81 seconds, the shuttle in 4.56 seconds, posted a 26-inch vertical jump and did eight reps on the bench press at the NIKE camp.
“I also went to camp at LSU a couple of weeks ago,” Hundley said. “I have not been hearing anything from them, but after that camp I have been hearing a lot from them. That has only been a week or so, but they have sent me mail just about everyday. (Offensive coordinator) Jimbo Fisher came up to me and gave me his number and told me to call him. He said he wants me to keep in touch with them because they can’t call me right now.”
As a junior, Hundley completed 59 of 110 passes for 900 yards and 11 touchdowns with only five interceptions.
“My top schools right now are LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Tulane,” Hundley said. “When I was at Texas A&M I was the only quarterback there that they seemed to be very interested in. I sent them my highlight tape last week and I am going to call them this week and see what they thought of it.”
Hundley earned honorable menion all-district honors behind Early Doucet as a junior.
