Louisiana QB makes commitment

New Orleans (La.) Brother Martin dual-threat quarterback Andrew Lair has flown under the recruiting radar so far this season. He is prospect that likely won’t be talked much about, but he has verbally committed to a school.
“I am committing to the Naval Academy,” Lair said.

"My decision to attend the Naval Academy was not set until I went to their camp in June,” Lair said. “ I knew that I wanted to get a good education, play for a great coaching staff and go somewhere that had good facilities. I have been to both Auburn and Tulane for visits and both schools met my criterea. However once I got to Annapolis I knew this is where I belonged. “
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Lair runs the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds.
“Coach Johnson and his staff are among the best in the country and being on "The Yard" is awe-inspiring,” Lair said. “Although I had verbal offers from other schools this was my first choice. Navy's offense is a good fit for me too. I run an option offense now and most people don't realize that I can throw the ball pretty well because we don't do it that often.”
As a junior Lair completed 35 of 60 passes for 500 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 23 times for 200 yards and four touchdowns.
“I felt as if Coach Jasper (QB Coach) elevated my game in a short period of time and I am looking forward to working with him for 4 years,” Lair said. “I know football won't last forever but my service to my country will last a lifetime."
