Louisiana OL staying close to home

West Monroe, La., offensive lineman Larry Shappley is a massive offensive tackle, who caught the eye of recruiters after an impressive senior season.
"I have committed to Louisiana-Monroe," Shappley said. "I had an offer from Louisiana-Lafayette too, but I think Monroe was just a better fit."

The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Shappley runs the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds, has a 330-pound bench press, 330-pound power clean and 455-pound squat.
Shappley, who has a 26-inch vertical jump is an excellent academic student who holds a 3.7 GPA and has already scored a 27 on the ACT.
"This gives me a chance to stay close to home and my family can come and watch me play," Shappley said. "I have grown up around the program so I know what it's about."
