Louisiana offensive lineman sets trips

Lafayette (La.) Carencro offensive tackle Dwight Alexander impressed schools with his size and senior statistics. Now he is trying to narrow down his top five schools.
“I’ve been talking a lot to South Carolina and Indiana,” Alexander said. They’ve both offered me, and so has Lafayette [U of Louisiana Lafayette]. I’ve also been talking to Auburn and LSU a lot. I like how South Carolina is really playing good this year, and they’re in the running for the SEC title. I like how Indiana is showing a lot of interest in me. I think that’s really cool. It’s also cool how Auburn is undefeated and LSU is right in the running also. That’d make it cool to go to those places.”

While Alexander is in the midst of what he hopes is a long playoff run, he also knows that the visits he is planning are important to his eventual decision.
“I’ve set up visits with Indiana and South Carolina already,” he said. “I’m going to visit Indiana on December 3 and South Carolina on January 14. I also want to set up visits to other schools after the season, and I’m pretty positive that my senior season will get me some more offers.”
Alexander is excited about his college future, but he also knows that he has some unfinished business in his high school career.
“We’re 6-3, and that got us the No. 12 seed in the playoffs,” Alexander said. “I’m feeling very good about the playoffs, and I’ve had a very, very good season. I had at least five pancakes a game, and everything is looking good for me right now. I can really move down the field, and you have to block down-field with our quarterback. I love running down the field and blocking because then you can just pick off DBs [defensive backs].”
Alexander stands an impressive 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds. He is among the top-30 overall prospects in Louisiana.
