The last time Clemson reached into Louisiana to recruit a player ranked as a three-star by Rivals.com, it resulted in the signing of Travis Etienne, one of the biggest surprises of the school's 2017 recruiting class. Now the Tigers are back to their old tricks, having recently jumped right into the mix for three-star Baton Rouge (La.) University linebacker Bryton Constantin.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker recently earned MVP honors at his position at the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp series presented by adidas stop in Mobile and will spend this weekend on campus in Clemson.

"The most love I’ve been getting by far is from Clemson," Constantin said. "They offered me last week and ever since then I’ve been on the phone with Brent Venables every day. That’s one of the coaches that will text me every day no matter what. I have a really good relationship with him. He’s come down to the school twice and I’m going to visit this weekend."

Constantin said he and Venables have immediately hit it off and he knows the Tigers are serious about his recruitment based on the limited of number of offers they have put out to prospects in the Class of 2019.

"He's the type of guy who trusts his instincts about a guy and he told me that he thinks I can be great at Clemson," Constantin said. "A lot of colleges just throw a fishnet out there in terms of offers but Clemson recruits very precisely and very selectively. They’re not going to offer you if you don’t fit what they like or if they’re ready to take you so I know that I’m going to have a good relationship with them."

Venables persistence is making sure he had a chance to see Constantin in person also made him scheduling a trip to Clemson to return the favor even more of a priority.

"They came to the school and I wasn’t there and then they came back the next week and that’s when they offered," Constantin said. "To come twice like that shows that they really want to recruit me and that he really likes me so that opened my eyes a lot."

Since adding the offer, Constantin has been doing his homework on all aspects of the program.

"Coach Venables sends me a lot of things about the program and how they compare to every school," Constantin said. "A lot of them show how Clemson has been on the rise for a long time and they’re at the top now. I’ll look everything, academics, guys to the NFL, all of that."

Constantin said he's going into the Clemson trip with some expectations, but he's keeping an open mind and just hoping to learn more about the Tigers program as a whole.

"I know it’s going to be nice but he’s told me that it might even be nicer than I think," Constantin said. "I’m just looking for the coaches to show me some love. I already know I have an offer. I just want to talk to Coach Swinney and go from there."

As he continues to add offers on a nearly daily basis, Constantin said he's in no rush to trim his list or make a commitment.

"I talk to my family a lot but I’m just starting to get some big offers so I’m going to see which schools offer me," he said. "I probably won’t cut it down until my season starts in the fall or after that."
