Louisiana LB/DE a sleeper to watch

Baton Rouge (La.) Istrouma is home to a sleeper linebacker/defensive end in Brandon Garrett.

“I’m still looking for my first official offer, but I’ve gotten interest from LSU, Florida, Auburn, Southern Miss, Mississippi State, West Virginia and a few others,” he said. “I went to LSU’s camp. I really liked it a lot. They’re my favorite school. I’ve grown up around here and I like the atmosphere and fan support. They’ve got a great program.

“But the schools showing thee most interest have been Southern Miss and Mississippi State. They’ve been sending me a lot of stuff, and they’re supposed to be calling me again as soon as they can.”

There had been indications of an offer from West Virginia earlier this spring, but Garrett hasn't received the official word in writing.

Garrett (6-2, 210, 4.75) recorded 118 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 13 sacks as a junior in earning all-district honors.

Academically, he maintains a 2.6 core GPA and took his ACT on June 14. He plans to major in physical therapy or electrical engineering.
