Louisiana kicker visits Big 10

A surprise visitor at Michigan this weekend was Keith Andrews, a place kicker from Monroe’s Ouachita Christian high school.
Andrews, who is 6-foot, 175 pounds, was offered a scholarship by the Wolverines last week and made his official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend.

“I understand that he really liked it,” Ouachita Christian coach Steven Fitzhugh said. “He did not commit, but it looks like it’s coming down to Michigan and Mississippi State. I think he’s going to take a visit to Mississippi State in January.”
Andrews had a superb senior season. He kicked a state-record 59-yard field goal and connected on 13 of his 21 field goal attempts. He was 12 of 14 on those field goals that were attempted within 53 yards.
He also had success with kickoffs and punting. Of his kickoffs, 50 of 55 were touchbacks. He averaged 41.6 yards per punt.
Fitzhugh says Andrews is being recruited specifically as a placekicker but that colleges like his versatility.
Andrews maintains a 4.0 GPA and scored a 27 on the ACT.
“I think he’s very good,” Fitzhugh said of Andrews. “Mississippi State already has a kicker committed and they’re still going after Keith, that should say something all by itself.”
The Rivals100 Recruiting Network hopes to do an interview with Andrews himself later this week.
