Size and speed: Favorite is 6-foot-3, 310 pounds. He has been timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.8 seconds, has a 400-pound bench-press and a 560-pound squat. He also has an impressive 3.0 grade-point average.
Honors: Favorite earned all-district honors as a junior, helping his team to a district championship.
Statistics: Favorite has recorded more than 100 solo tackles and 100 assists in his career.
Favorite Schools: Favorite lists LSU, Tulane, USC, UCLA, Miami and Colorado as his early leaders. He said he has been offered scholarships orally from LSU, USC, Tulane and Colorado.
Skinny: Harvey (La.) West Jefferson Marlon Favorite has submitted a picture to Rivals100 and in that picture he’s decked out in his high school uniform with a Buccaneer banner hanging in the background. It’s very ironic that Favorite, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound defensive tackle, lists Tampa Bay defensive tackle Warren Sapp as his sports hero because in the picture Favorite looks eerily like the All-Pro and Super Bowl champion.
Favorite is obviously a little taller than Sapp but on film he definitely has a motor that doesn’t stop, which explains the early interest from teams all over the nation and the Southeast.
“I guess the best way to describe me is versatile,” Favorite said. “I do a little bit of everything.”
Just like Sapp does.
But the real question is whether or not Favorite has a favorite when it comes to a college decision? Early on, it looks like he does. He lists LSU as his top team over Tulane, USC, UCLA, Miami and Colorado. He is hoping to camp this summer in Baton Rouge and also a few other places.
“The academic and athletic programs will be key in my decision,” Favorite said. “I also think that things like environment and the people in general on campus and in the town will be things I look at.”
