Louisiana DB on the rise

Cornerback Prentiss Waggner picked up his first scholarship offer last month from Minnesota and several schools in the Southeast continue to show big interest.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder from Clinton, La., says that the first offer was certainly one he was excited about and not expecting all at the same time. Several other schools have been showing Waggner attention including LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, and others.

"I was surprised," Waggner said about the first offer from Minnesota. "I don't know too much about them, but I definitely want to learn more. I'd say that other than them, LSU, Auburn, and Ole Miss are recruiting me pretty hard."
Waggner, a 2A state defensive MVP for his play at defensive back, was also a member of the Rivals250 to watch for the class of 2008. He plans to take those skills to camps this summer.
"I'm going to the LSU camp, the Georgia one and probably Florida and Arkansas camps," Waggner said. "I plan to make a decision before the season starts."
Waggner says that most schools are recruiting him as a cornerback. It's his ability to read the play that he says makes him good.
"I like to man-up on the receiver," he said. "I'm aggressive with the receivers. It's my anticipation that makes me good."
