Louisiana athlete making spring plans

Haynesville, La. athlete D.J. Lewis knows he has his work cut out for him this offseason in getting his name out due to his remote location and small school background but he is working hard to compete and prove himself. The versatile prospect has scheduled more activity for the spring season, including two spring practice visits.
"I'll be attending the LSU spring game," he said. "They invited me and then I'll be going to TCU. I'll be at the Nike Football Training Camp in Fort Worth and the Under Armour Combine in New Orleans."

Lewis is consistently proving himself in camp settings, putting up strong testing numbers and showing that he belongs with the region's best. His performances have helped him garner interest from some major college programs.
"I'm hearing from Tennessee, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Kansas and Ole Miss," he said. "I'm real excited. I'm still patiently waiting on offers. I'm excited about the spring games though."
Between camps and college visits, Lewis has been competing in track. At his most recent meet, he ran a personal best in the 100 with a 10.82. He also has been competing in the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays.
As a junior, Lewis did a little bit of everything for his Haynesville team, rushing for over 600 yards, picking up over 200 yards receiving, over 200 yards in both kickoff returns and punt returns and compiling 52 tackles and four interceptions on defense.
