Jordan Jackson says he's currently got his focus on four
prospective schools, but an even bigger priority is looming on the schedule.
"I take the SAT this Saturday," said Jackson, a member of the Rivals.com
Louisiana
Top 30 team. "It's a pretty big deal for me. If I do a good
job on that, it's going to help me get some more scholarship offers, so it's
very important."
Among those potentially waiting to offer the gifted
Jackson (6-6, 205, 4.5) are LSU, Ole Miss and Tulane. He currently has
offers from Middle Tennessee, Louisiana-Lafayette and Northwestern
Louisiana.
"LSU says they're just playing it out, waiting for a
while to see how my scores are," he said. "Coach (Derek) Dooley tells me to
just do my best and hopefully everything will take care of itself. If I get
it and LSU offers, they would be first on my list."
Until that point, he says Middle Tennessee is his
leader.
"They call me about every week, every chance they
get, really wanting me to commit," he said of the Blue Raiders. "I know they
have a pretty good program. I'm interested in them, but I haven't been able
to go up there and visit yet."
Jackson has only on trip on his current schedule. He
plans to be at LSU on Nov. 23 for the Ole Miss game. "I'll get to see two of
the teams I'm looking at," he said.
He added that the Rebels have pushed hard for a
visit to Oxford, but arranging transportation has been a problem.
As a junior, Jackson earned all-state honors at
defensive back by recording 61 tackles, 12 interceptions and seven pass
break-ups. He also caught 27 passes for 470 yards and eight touchdowns.
Through seven games this season, he's had
approximately 600 all-purpose yards, playing -- of all places -- running
back on offense.
"Yeah, they needed me there," he said. "It's kind of
different. I'm not real used to it, but it's been fun. People say I'm the
tallest running back they've ever seen."
Defensively, he's got only one interception, quite a
dip from last year's total.
"Nobody wants to challenge me anymore. They never
throw to my man," he said. "I guess I proved that was a bad idea last year.
But the other cornerback has four interceptions, so I guess I'm helping
him."
