Florida State has been very active in recent days sending out offers to top talent throughout the south. One of the 2020 prospects who added an offer from the Seminoles Tuesday was Major Burns, a long, rangy defensive back out of Baton Rouge (La.) Madison Prep.

It is offer No. 3 for Burns. Arizona and Louisiana-Monroe have offered as well. Mississippi State is another school that is showing high interest.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

"They contacted my coach first after watching my film, then I spoke to coach Barnett about the offer," said Burns. "He told me that he watched my film, loved it and that they would love to have me.

"The offer surprised me. I am most definitely going to visit them now.

"I like what they are players are doing after college life and how they are being so influential in the game and out side the game. FSU has a great winning history and I have a cool interest in them. I’ll have to check out the Junior Day to really feel the culture.

"I do not have a leader yet, but I will in the spring."

RIVALS REACTION

Burns is planning to visit Florida State at some point in the near future now that he has the offer. He also has visits to Florida, Georgia and Ole Miss on his schedule. Burns is an intriguing prospect due to his size and skill-set. He has great length, and although he plays free safety for his high school team, some schools could view him as a cornerback on the next level. He has great ball skills, he can cover a lot of ground and he has shown he can mix it up physically too. Expect many more offers to come his way.
