Louisana QB wants to play in the SEC

Lutcher, La., quarterback Dustin Mitchell became one of the hottest names in the Pelican State over the summer. He had a solid showing at the NIKE camp in May and it carried over to the summer as he attended team camps.
“The only offer I have is still Louisiana-Lafayette,” Mitchell said. “I have been getting a lot of interest from a lot of different schools since this summer with letters and stuff. The calls I have gotten so far are Florida, Notre Dame and Southern.”

Mitchell attended the NIKE camp in Baton Rouge in May where he measured in at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 5.07 seconds. He ran the shuttle in 4.28 seconds, posted a 28-inch vertical jump and did 10 reps on the bench press.
“When Florida and Notre Dame called they both told me that they were real interested in me,” Mitchell said. “They said they have heard that I have been doing some good things and that they will be keeping an eye on me this season.”
He earned all-district honors as a junior after passing for 2,698 yards (55.7 percent) and 24 touchdowns. He also rushed for 424 yards and seven scores.
“The schools I am the most interested in are really all of the SEC schools and also Notre Dame and Tulane,” Mitchell said. “This weekend I am going to be going to the Tulane-Florida A&M game. I am planning on taking some official visits before I make my decision.”
Mitchell is rated as the No. 27 prospect in the state of Louisiana by Rivals.com.
