Los Alamitos WR tradition continues

Junior to Watch: Brandon Tripp
School: Los Alamitos, Calif.

Position: Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
Size and Speed: Brandon stands 6-foot-2, weighs 190 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds.
Statistics: Brandon caught 102 passes for over 1,000 yards as a junior.
Honors: Tripp was an all-county and all-league selection his junior year.
Favorite Schools: It is still very early in the recruiting process and Brandon is keeping his options open. He is receiving correspondence from UCLA, USC, Cal, Oregon, ASU and Notre Dame.
The Skinny: Tripp plays for a school that has had an outstanding run of wide receivers over the years. Current Oregon Duck star Keenan Howry, former Duck star Tony Hartley, former Bruin Barad Mesby and former Trojan Stan Guyness all were standout wide receivers for Los Al.
“Brandon compares with all the great ones we have had here,” Los Alamitos head coach John Barnes said. “Brandon is the only four-year starter ever at the wide receiver position for Los Alamitos”. Now that is quite a statement.
Tripp has incredible hands and comes out of a catch with an incredible burst. “Brandon is big time,” Barnes said.
Brandon is also one of the Golden State’s best baseball players and he could go that route. Just last week the opposing team walked the tying run to second rather than let Tripp swing away. “Brandon is like a Barry Bonds on the high school level,” Barnes said. Well the strategy worked, the next batter flew out and Los Al lost.
Tripp is definitely one to watch.
Stay tuned…
