Lonie commits to Cal

"I'm going to be a Golden Bear," punter/kicker David Lonie said. "I'm going to Cal."
"Last year they had 29 field goal attempts. They have a high powered offense."

"I like the weather out there. It's around the bay so I can go surfing."
"I liked the atmosphere. And they are up and coming. It's a good fit for me."
"It's hard to say who was second. It was close. I liked Michigan and Ohio State. I liked all of them."
Lonie made official visits to Cal, Ohio State, Michigan, Illinois, and Louisville before he made his decision. He will begin school at Cal in January.
The 6-foot-6 and 215 pound Lonie, from Iowa Falls (Iowa) Ellsworth Junior College, averaged close to 45 yards per punt this season. He also made seven of 12 field goals. Lonie is one of the country's top punter/kickers.
