Lonie back from second Big Ten official

"I got back this afternoon from Illinois," kicker/punter David Lonie said when asked about his official visit with the Illini. "I've taken one to Michigan and one to Illinois."
"The (Illinois) visit went well. Unfortunately they had a loss to Michigan State. But the coaches were very helpful. I met the players. I had a good overall feel."

When asked which official visit he liked better Lonie responded, "It's sort of hard to say. I liked different aspects of each one. Michigan had more atmosphere. But I liked the feeling the of the players at Illinois. They were both very good visits."
"I have four schools to narrow down for my other three visits. Ohio State, Miami, Georgia, and Cal."
The 6-foot-6 and 215 pound Lonie is in his second season at Iowa Falls (Iowa) Ellsworth Community College. In his first year he made eight of 11 field goals with his longest from 48 yards. Lonie also punted 65 times averaging 40.1 per boot, and handled his team's kickoff duties. A number of his kickoffs went through the uprights.
This season he is averaging 44.8 yards per punt with a long of 69. Lonie has made seven of 12 field goals with his long coming from 43 yards out.
Lonie said Michigan, Ohio State, and Illinois have offered a scholarship as have a few others he did not include among the four schools under consideration for his other visits.
