Long lands USC offer

David Long has picked up many major offers but one school that had not been recruiting him much was USC.
That changed Monday when the four-star from Los Angeles Loyola talked to two coaches and landed his latest offer from the Trojans.

"It's probably the biggest surprise I've had," Long said. "I haven't been in much contact with SC mainly since the junior day. I thought it dried up so I didn't expect anything going further in my recruitment.
"I received a direct message from coach (Peter) Sirmon. I called him and after I called him he told me to call coach (Steve Sarkisian). I called coach Sark and he offered me. They just talked about the process and how it takes long for some guys. They said they're really excited about me."
The USC offer is something Long said he will consider but it won't change the scope of his recruitment. Long is still giving every school a fair shake but the Trojans don't automatically jump to the front after offering.
"I wouldn't say it changes the course of my recruitment," Long said. "I'm going to give them some consideration but it doesn't change anything if they were or were not to offer.
"Everything is still the same. All the schools that were standing out, that were recruiting me hard, are still there.
"I don't really necessarily have any favorites right now. I'm trying to give every school consideration. There are definitely some schools I liked coming into the recruiting process so I'm really excited about having those opportunities."
The Loyola standout who shined at the Rivals Camp Series in Los Angeles two weekends ago said he still hopes to hear from Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson.
He plans to visit Stanford and Michigan and possibly another school - maybe Oregon - after track season. Following the spring evaluation period, Long said he could significantly cut down his list to a more manageable level.
There is a chance he could make a commitment this summer or he might wait to take official visits and decide later. Stanford has been considered a frontrunner in his recruitment but Long said every program remains under consideration at this point.
