Long could commit soon
David Long is planning some final trips and then the four-star cornerback should be ready to make his commitment.

"I'm going to try to get out to Michigan and Notre Dame before the season starts," Long said. "At this point I want to commit before the season starts so probably in the late summer."
One other trip Long could take is with his mother to Stanford. That could be especially important since the Los Angeles Loyola standout seems to favor the Cardinal over others and this would be his mom's first trip to campus.
Is that a chance for her to sign off on his pending commitment? Possibly, but either way, Long has said Stanford is in great standing as his recruitment continues.
"I may get back up there with my mom before I decide," Long said.
The two local schools - USC and UCLA - cannot be counted out yet.
Long's relationship with UCLA defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin could be a pull to the Bruins. The four-star was in Westwood recently for a 7on7 tournament and things went well.
"I have a really good relationship with coach (Martin) like I said before so it feels at home over there," Long said. "When I was there we were talking about techniques and he's been speaking more on a regular level like he was already my coach. I had a great time over there."
USC is trying to stay right in the mix as well and Long recently spent hours on campus. Close to his high school, Long said he could make a return trip or two before announcing his commitment later this summer.
"SC I'll probably get over there," Long said. "I don't know when but since it's so close I can do it whenever. I don't have anything planned out right now."
