Logan is comfortable at Maryland

Rivals250 athlete Tony Logan concluded his recruitment yesterday. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder out of Piscataway, N.J. selected the Terrapins over offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Purdue, Rutgers, Tennessee, Virginia and others.
"I called coach Sollazzo and Friedgen in the afternoon and told them I was committing," he said. "They were really happy and excited about me coming and then they congratulated me."

What made Logan select Maryland in the end?
"I know they have real good academics and athletics, but it came down to the fact that I felt very comfortable in the atmosphere there," he stated. "I took many visits to Maryland and felt at home there. I like the setting and the coaches. Coach Sollazzo in particular was big because he's a real good coach that stuck to his word. He saw me as a sophomore and told me he'd offer if I come as a junior and they did.
"I also felt comfortable because of the fact my Omar Savage is there. He's a role model to me. I guess you could say he was a factor in my decision because he showed me the area, people and whenever he's home I hang out with him for a bit."
While talking to the coaches yesterday, the four-star prospect briefly talked to Ralph Friedgen about what position he'll play.
"He talked to me about playing wide receiver," he said. "He sees that I have a lot of potential and natural ability there and thinks I have a shot to make it to the NFL.
"I play quarterback mostly in high school, but I have done a bit of wide receiver. That's not a big deal to me, in fact it excites me. The coaches think I definitely have a chance for early playing time, but once I'm done with the season I'll work on perfecting my skills at receiver. I really want to work on my route running and more."
Logan is relieved and excited to have a commitment behind him.
"I feel like I have a real good situation at Maryland," he stated. "I'm very excited to head to a new environment and tell the fans I'm coming."
