Lodge checks out LSU

Cedar Hill (Texas) Rivals100 wide receiver DaMarkus Lodge took his second official visit of the recruiting process over the weekend. His first was a trip to USC with teammate Aca'Cedric Ware. This time Lodge went to LSU with teammate Justin McMillan.
The visit did not disappoint as Lodge took in the Tigers' 10-7 win over Ole Miss. However, he was impressed with more than just the win.

"Oh man it was pretty cool from every aspect of it," Lodge said. "From the game to the players to the coaches to the school. I mean the environment and everything was pretty cool."
During the game he watched intently. He was not worried so much about how often the receivers got the ball or how the quarterbacks looked. He was there to see a good game and watch the coaches and the players interact. What he saw left a favorable impression.
"I mean that just shows how much heart those guys have," Lodge said. "They can overcome adversity. They were the underdog coming into the game and they knew it and they just balled."
Lodge was hosted on his visit by Jamal Adams who he faced a few times over the years during training sessions, at camps, and on the high school football field. He was able to take in the campus and talk to the coaches and hang out with the players.
He soaked it all in and enjoyed his time in Baton Rouge; however, one aspect of his trip stood above the rest.
"The thing that caught my attention the most was coach Henry," Lodge said. "He's always teaching. He's always on his guys. He's not going to let them cheat themselves basically."
Before the visit, Lodge and coach Henry already formed a strong bond. In fact, Lodge had a good feeling about Henry from the very beginning.
"I knew I was going to like coach Henry after the first time I met him," Lodge said. "He came to Cedar Hill and he talked to me and he told me straight up this is probably the most you're going to see of me. I'm not one of those guys who's going to chase you. I'm not one of those guys who's going to blow your phone or your Twitter up. I'm going to talk to you right now and I'm going to give you everything I've got right now. If you're interested in me you're going to keep in contact with me. If you're not that's it. After that day I knew I was going to really like him. He's probably one of the realest guys out there. He's just a great guy."
Lodge continues to keep in touch with teams like Arizona State, Ohio State, and UCLA as well as others and he maintains an open mind. He does not have any other official visits, official or unofficial, scheduled at this time.
In addition to his visit to LSU, Lodge's weekend included a big Thursday night performance in win over DeSoto. He recorded seven receptions for 235 yards and three scores in the 65-42 Cedar Hill win over intense rival DeSoto.
"I mean like you said that's probably the biggest rivalry in high school football - DeSoto and Cedar Hill - so being a part of that is great. Going out there there's a lot of competition and a lot of great athletes and there's a lot of spirit and emotion going back and forth with those guys. It was just a fun night.
Lodge is currently ranked No. 45 in the Rivals100, No. 5 among the nation's 2015 wide receivers, and No. 6 in the Rivals.com Texas Preseason Top 100. He has recorded 554 yards and 13 touchdowns on 27 receptions and he has rushed for 93 yards and another touchdown on six carries for 7-1 Cedar Hill.
